Utah County Inmate Search
Utah County inmate search is a process through which interested persons can obtain information on individuals who were or are currently detained in correctional facilities located in Utah County. Inmate information is considered part of Utah County Public Records and is disseminated to the public unless otherwise specified by state law.
Members of the public may conduct an inmate search to find out whether their family members or friends are currently detained in the county. Utah County inmate searches are also important to individuals who want to obtain information on detainees, such as a detainee's release date, arrest date, and offense description.
Inmate records are considered public in the United States and therefore are made available by both traditional governmental agencies as well as third-party websites and organizations. Third-party websites may offer an easier means to search, as these services do not face geographical limitations. However, because third-party sites are not government-sponsored, the information obtained through them may vary from official channels. To find inmate records using third-party aggregate sites, requesting parties must provide:
- The location of the sought-after record, including state, county, and city where the inmate resides.
- The name of the person listed in the record, unless it is a juvenile.

How Does a Utah County Inmate Search Work?
Utah County inmates' information is subject to the Utah Government Records Access and Management Act. Under the act, public access to certain government records, including inmate information, is permitted. Hence, interested persons can obtain different information about a Utah County inmate by querying relevant sources. This information includes and is not limited to the following:
- The inmate's full name
- Mugshot
- Release date and time or projected release date
- Incarceration status
- The inmate's physical description (height, weight, eye, and hair color)
- Sex
- Year of birth (YOB)
- Birth Country
- Arrest information:
- Arrest date and time
- Arresting agency
- Booking date, time, and number.
- Case information:
- The case's preceding court
- Case number
- Charge description
- Bail/bond amount
Note that public access to certain government records is restricted under Utah Code 63G-2-302. These types of records are referred to as private records. Examples of these records include and are not limited to inmates' medical records.
It is worth noting that some information contained in an inmate record may not be available online in Utah County. A typical example is an inmate's mugshot. In such cases, the inquirer would need to query the inmate's arresting agency or the agency that oversees the facility where the inmate is being held in person for the desired information.
Where to Find a Utah County Inmate Locator
An inmate locator is an online tool interested persons can use to obtain information on inmates detained within specific correctional facilities or regions. These tools are typically provided by government agencies that oversee specific correctional facilities at local, state, and federal levels.
The Utah County inmate locator is accessible through the county sheriff's office's official website. On the inmate locator, inquirers can search for an inmate using the person's name or arrest date. Inquirers can also conduct an enhanced search, provided they are logged in through the Utah County arrested person search login page. Note that the county inmate locator can only be used to search for inmates of the Utah county jail system. Inquirers typically require either an inmate's name or arrest date to conduct a search through the county inmate locator tool.
Utah is home to two state prison facilities: The Central Utah Correctional Facility (CUCF) and Utah State Correctional Facility (USCF). However, none of these state facilities is located in Utah County. Nevertheless, inquiries who wish to search for or lookup inmates of any of these facilities can use the inmate locator (also known as offender-search) provided by the Utah Department of Correction (UDC).
At the federal level, inquirers can use the Federal Bureau of Prison (BOP) inmate locator.
The Bureau of Prison (BOP) oversees federal correctional facilities. However, there are also no federal correctional facilities in the entire state of Utah.
Inquirers can also retrieve inmate details and records through certain third-party websites. These websites provide inmate records, typically for a fee. To search for inmates through these websites, inquirers usually must provide details about the inmate in question. These can include the inmate's name or other identifiers, such as the inmate's booking number, state ID, or case number.
How to Send Money to a Utah County Inmate
Interested persons, such as friends and family members of a Utah County inmate, can send money to an inmate through the commissary services provided by the county jail. During an inmate stint in the county jail, they are typically provided a commissary account they can use to purchase several items that are typically not provided by the facility. These include and are not limited to small food items, writing materials, stamped envelopes, and hygiene items.
To send money to a Utah county inmate commissary account, interested persons can use the third-party provider (www.jailatm.com) the facility partners with. An inmate's loved ones can also opt to purchase and deliver approved items through the provider. Note that to use these services, the sender must register an account online on the third-party provider's website.
Furthermore, per Utah County jail policies, inmates cannot purchase commissary items if they owe unpaid jail fees. Hence, all or part of each deposit made to an inmate commissary account with outstanding jail fees will be applied to their outstanding fees until it is completely paid off. After which, the inmate would be allowed to make commissary purchases. However, regardless of an inmate's debt, they may be allowed to purchase basic hygiene items directly from the jail commissary provider at (866) 394-0490 or through the aforementioned third-party provider.

These restrictions may be extended in certain situations depending on an inmate's circumstances. Furthermore, Utah County jail staff are no longer responsible for scheduling inmates. Inmates visits are scheduled through Securus (a third-party company that facilitates visitation for many correctional facilities in the U.S.)
Prospective visitors must first register an account to schedule a visit through Securus. Prospective visitors can set up an account through the agency's website (securustech.net). To complete the registration process, prospective visitors must provide their state-issued ID or driver's license and a current photograph. After scheduling a visit, the prospective visitor will receive a message confirming their visit on the website. As a requirement, all visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. For further inquiries, interested persons can call Securus toll free customer service number at (877) 578-3658
During their scheduled visitation day, Securus would send visitors a "PIN" four (4) minutes before their scheduled visitation time. This pin would be used to log in to the agency visitation portal. After logging in, visitors may need to wait for their respective inmates to log in. It is worth noting that there is no limit to the number of remote visits prospective visitors can schedule remotely via an internet-enabled device, provided visitation times are available. Furthermore, visitors are charged $12.00 per 25-minute visit. In certain situations, visitors may be charged the promotional rate of $6.00 per 25-minute visit.
